How to use and maintain your sauna hat. It's not complicated.

Usage

How to use
your hat

01

Put it on dry

Wear it before you enter the sauna, while it's still dry. Make sure it covers your ears and forehead.

02

Keep it on the whole time

The hat works best when worn consistently throughout your session, especially on upper benches where air is hottest.

03

Optional: wet the hat

For extra cooling, soak your hat in cold water before wearing. It feels cooler as the water evaporates.

Beginners should start with 5-10 minutes. Experienced users typically do 15-20 minutes per round. Harvard Health recommends not exceeding 20 minutes in one session.

Both. Shower before to remove oils and lotions (helps you sweat better). Shower after to wash away sweat and toxins released during your session.

Not recommended. Heat can damage electronics, and the sauna is meant to be a digital detox. Leave devices in your locker.

While not required, a sauna hat significantly improves comfort by protecting your head from the hottest air. It allows longer, more comfortable sessions and protects hair from heat damage. The #1 reason people quit early is head discomfort.

Conical (bell-shaped) hats are the traditional Russian/Finnish style, standing about 30cm tall. Bucket hats are shorter (20-25cm) with a more modern look. Both provide excellent protection.

Most sauna hats are one-size-fits-most, designed to fit head circumferences of 58-62cm. They should fit snugly but comfortably, covering ears and forehead.

Simply rinse with cool or lukewarm water after each use. For deeper cleaning, hand wash with mild soap. Never machine wash or dry - heat will shrink wool.
